Air Bridge Browser Extension Help

Send Current Page over AirBridge

This feature allows the browser extension to send the current page the user has browsed to, across an AirBridge Pulse to any AirBridge compliant mobile or desktop receivers in range. This could be very useful in a classroom, convention or office meeting environment and may even be automated in a powerpoint or youtube video being presented.

AirBridge pulses may be transmitted across any audio source. However, certain transmission carriers are not capable of transmitting sound at high enough frequencies to carry all 4 AirBridge Bands.

AirBridge bands were therefore designed with a transmission band for:

- AM radio (lowest frequency band and very audible to the human ear). Use this band for low quality carriers like AM radio, low quality TV, tape or internet transmissions. Use this band only when nothing else works.

- FM Radio (medium band that can be heard by most people under the age of 30). Use this band for or the High/Medium band for Youtube recordings or any recording with a low bit rate transcoder/compressor used in the recording or stream.

- CD Quality (above what most people can hear but small percentage can perceive it is present). Can be user on higher quality MP3 and MP4 video recording or non transcoded internet streams. * Use this as the default band where possible.

- DVD band (above human hearing). Will only work with high quality recordings or streams BUT may not be receivable by all AirBridge receivers

Note: All AirBridge pulses are well within the hearing range of dogs and cats but mostly sound like background noise. The few second duration and low amplitude needed for the pulse will not hurt any human or pet.

Receive Mobile to Desktop

This feature allows the browser extension to not only send AirBridge Pulse Commands, but to also receive them. Even pulses sent by this browser extension may be picked up by the extension itself. With this feature turned ON, validated AirBridge Pulses will be displayed in a pop up window. Phone numbers may also be sent to Skype or Facetime apps on the same device as this browser extension or within range of a mobile user. Mobile devices may attempt phone calls via cellular connections or give the user the option to select a carrier if multiple options exist to complete a call.

Neither the reciever or transmitter ever retain user information about what is being sent or by whom. The receiver does listen for pulses thru the receiving devices microphone just like Siri or Shazam, but unlike these other common and popular audio based apps, AirBridge never captures more than a couple of seconds of audio at any one time and IN NO CASE, unlike other audio apps, does the captured audio EVER leave the receiving device to be translated, much less stored, on a remote cloud server.

All captured audio is demodulated on the receiving device and only a small number of fixed frequencies of sound are examined for translation into commands. Each command is only about a third of a second long so background voice is never examined or stored under any circumstance.

Audio Effect

The higher frequency AirBridge audio transmission bands may be above the users hearing range resulting in the user not knowing if a pulse was actually sent. Turning on the Audio Effect feature provides a simple audible confirmation letting the user know that an AirBridge Pulse was sent.

Highlighting

The AirBridge Browser Extension identifies phone numbers, images and certain web links that may be transmitted from the extension to a mobile user or other browser extension via short audio bursts. This feature highlights the identified phone numbers with a yellow background and web links (URL's) with a green background. Images are still marked with the green AirBridge logo on mouse over.

Transmit Frequency Selection

AirBridge works via short bursts (less than a second) of audio thru your browser. The AirBridge Pulse Transmitter works across one or more of these audio bands selectable from the drop down menu in this browser extension. In some cases, the receiveing browser or mobile app may have filters attached to the microphone hardware which inhibit the pulse being received correctly. In most cases, these filters do not inhibit the lowest band from working. If you find that your receiver is not interpreting AirBridge Pulses, select the low band on the transmitter and try again. It may also be possible to go into your device settings and disable any microphone filters (i.e. echo cancellation or noise suppression) thereby allowing higher frequency AirBridge Pulses to be received.

As more and more browsers continue to adopt webRTC standards, this will become less necessary.

QR Popup

With this feature, moving the mouse over any identified image, phone number or web link will pop up a QR image which can be used by the mobile user having a QR reader app, to the app stores to download an AirBridge receiver app.
